প্রতিষ্ঠাকালীন ইতিহাস
স্বতন্ত্র চিন্তা চেতনা ও শিক্ষার মহান আদর্শে উজ্জীবিত হয়ে বিশিষ্ট শিল্পপতি, দানবীর, শিক্ষানুরাগী, মহাত্মা আলহাজ্ব জহুরুল ইসলাম তাঁর নিজ জন্মস্থানে সুশিক্ষার আলো ছড়িয়ে দেওয়ার মানসে ১৯৮৬ সালের ২৮ জানুয়ারি তাঁর পিতা মরহুম আলহাজ্ব আফতাব উদ্দিন আহাম্মদের স্মৃতি রক্ষার্থে তাঁর নামানুসারে ছায়া সুনিবিড় মনোরম প্রাকৃতিক পরিবেশে আফতাব উদ্দিন উচ্চ বিদ্যালয় প্রতিষ্ঠা করেন। প্রতিষ্ঠানটি উদ্বোধন করেন বিশিষ্ট শিক্ষাবিদ এবং ঢাকা গভর্নমেন্ট ল্যাবরেটরি হাই স্কুলের প্রাক্তন প্রধান শিক্ষক জনাব খান মুহাম্মদ সালেক যিনি প্রতিষ্ঠাকালীন পরিচালনা পর্ষদের সভাপতি এবং বাবু মন্মথ চক্রবর্তী প্রধান শিক্ষক হিসেবে দায়িত্ব গ্রহণ করেন। ৩.৫৫ একর জমি নিয়ে প্রতিষ্ঠানটি ইউ শেপ নিজস্ব ভবন, ছাত্রাবাস, শিক্ষকদের কোয়ার্টার, স্কুল প্রাচীর এবং মূল গেটের বিপরীতে ২.০০ একরের বেশি জায়গায় একটি শান বাঁধানো ঘাট বিশিষ্ট পুকুর নিয়ে নির্মিত হয়। ১৯৮৬ সালে ৮ম শ্রেণি পর্যন্ত অল্প সংখ্যক শিক্ষার্থী নিয়ে রাজনীতিমুক্ত, সুস্থ পরিবেশ, কঠোর নিয়ম-শৃঙ্খলা, সর্বোপরি পাঠদানের ক্ষেত্রে আন্তরিকতা ও প্রকৃত মানুষ গড়ার প্রয়াসে প্রতিষ্ঠানটি যাত্রা শুরু করে।
প্রতিষ্ঠানের উল্লেখযোগ্য অর্জন
প্রতিষ্ঠালগ্ন থেকে এ পর্যন্ত আফতাব উদ্দিন স্কুল এ্যান্ড কলেজের যেমন রয়েছে একাডেমিক সাফল্য তেমন রয়েছে সহশিক্ষাক্রমিক কার্যক্রমে ঈর্ষণীয় অর্জন। প্রতি বছরই বিভিন্ন পাবলিক পরীক্ষায় আমাদের শিক্ষার্থীরা প্রায় শতভাগ পাসসহ সর্বোচ্চ এ+ পেয়ে জেলার বেসরকারি শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলোর মধ্যে ১ম স্থান অর্জনের সফলতা ধরে রেখেছে। আরো উল্লেখযোগ্য অর্জনগুলো হলোঃ

- স্কাউটিংয়ে প্রেসিডেন্ট গোল্ড মেডেল অর্জন,
- ব্রিটিশ কাউন্সিল কর্তৃক ইন্টারন্যাশনাল স্কুল এ্যাওয়ার্ড-২০২০-২২ এ সারা দেশে ৩য় স্থান অর্জন,
- ২০১৫ সালে আইসিটিতে জেলা পর্যায়ে শ্রেষ্ঠ শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান,
- সেরা কন্টেণ্ট নির্মাতা,
- ২০১৭-১৯ ও ২০২২ সালে উপজেলা পর্যায়ে শ্রেষ্ঠ শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান ও শ্রেষ্ঠ প্রতিষ্ঠান প্রধান,
- ২০১৬ সালে আঞ্চলিক পর্যায়ে শ্রেষ্ঠ শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান (কলেজ শাখা),
